We got an earlier start today, we were up at breakfast at about 6:30, and left for the job-site straight from breakfast. Breakfast was bacon, eggs, & toast…not phenomenal, but certainly edible and after a quick Sheetz stop, we hit the job-site. Joe’s roof crew(same as yesterday, due to them having disposable shoes) got started on the top half of the roof. Adham’s crew (Seth, Kara, Michelle, Sean, Tori finally having enough wood to work with, started hanging deck joists. My floor crew(Ashley & Alex) removed some floor fragments, and started putting in insulation. Janet & Melissa’s paint crew(Kate, Carrie, Sam B) got started painting the luan for the ceiling. Bob was our floater, and Bryan and Codi finished our drainage ditch.
Everybody worked really hard until lunch, which we ate at the job-site. By lunch the roof crew was done, and after lunch they started cleaning all the roof tar off of: themselves, the hoses, the tools, etc. Joel’s crew(along with Codi and Bryan) got the floor pieces cut and nailed down. Adham’s crew got about a 1/3 of the deck boards down. We finally had to vote someone off our island…ok, maybe not… but Carla did have to leave to return to Salisbury(she had planned too), and we were all sad to see her go. Later, she left me a voicemail and she arrived safely back in the “Bury”.
By 2:30 we finished up and got ready to head to
Cacapon for the rest of the afternoon. We swam for 45-50 minutes, before heading over for dinner at the Pavilion at Cacapon. Dinner was ham, green beans, mac/cheese, and desserts. After dinner we made our traditional visit to Dairy Queen. MANY MANY THANKS to the people who donated funds for all of us to get something at Dairy Queen…..YOUR AWESOME. After ice cream the kids went out for the
Annual Christ-Youth Truck Horn Honking Extravaganza. After this we returned to camp for fun, showers, games, hanging out, etc.
Our weather was hot in the sun, nice in the shade, and the humidity was down a bit, so that helped. As far as job-site, we’re probably not as far as we’d like to be, but probably where we realistically should be, and we should be able to get the majority of the work done by Friday. Hard to believe we’re over half way done…and soon to be coming home.
Until tomorrow…..God Bless.
Joel
