Well, today turned out a whole lot different than we had anticipated, but I’ll get to that, a bit later.
Pancakes, sausage, and gravy for breakfast…kind of an interesting combination, but it was pretty good. After breakfast we hit the jobsite and got to work. People shifted around so much today, I’m not about to try and say who worked where.
Adham’s deck crew got the majority of the deck finished today, they have a few simple things to finish tomorrow. Jenna (with Joe) trimmed the roof(plus Jenna has a neat trick with a paint brush..see pic below). Bryan (with Joe) installed a new screen door on the front door. Janet and Melissa’s paint crew got the rest of the ceiling boards painted. Bob’s closet crew installed the carpet in….the closet, then moved to the other closet to lay a piece of flooring. Unfortunately they had to empty a freezer and a fridge to get to the floor. Our ditch/ground leveling crew started leveling the back area in the back of the house. My floor crew got the seams in the floor sealed, and then transitioned to the ceiling(which was starting to fall in). No where near as bad as the floor, but the ceiling was starting to fail as well. We replaced the damaged tiles, and then after lunch started stapling the painted luan up.
Speaking of lunch, we went back to the park for a nice lunch under the trees. Meat or cheese sandwiches today…and if you combined the two, you got a regular meat with cheese sandwich…not sure why they didn’t make that an option, but oh well.
Ok, back to my opening statement… early in the ceiling repair phase, Aaron got something in his eye, we rinsed it out, and thought we
had it, but after lunch, it started to bother him again. We decided to be safe and take him to the ER to have it checked out, so Melissa drove Aaron over to the ER. About 20 minutes later Ryan decided to run a phillips head bit from a screw gun through the side of his hand. So after cleaning it out and seeing what he did…Ryan and I went to the ER. Melissa went back to the job-site and I shuttled between Aaron and Ryan. Ok, the good news is Aaron only mildly scratched the side of his eyeball, and Ryan didn’t hit anything important with his screw gun incident. Both are bandaged up, and still acting like they normally do, so they obviously feel relatively well. (see above picture, i.e., Aaron & Ryan)
Everybody then traveled to the Goodwill for our annual buying spree. Let’s just say, you’ll probably never see some of the pictures…although Senior Night in a few years should be a scream!!!
Dinner was at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hancock, spaghetti again(twice this week), but it was good. Back to vespers, and then the rest of the night down in camp. Tomorrow we’ll go watch the sunrise at God’s Open Window, and then hit the job-site to get as much done as we can.
God Bless
Joel
