Pittsburgh – Day 2 Saturday, November 1

Several weeks ago, I received an e-mail from Jodi from Youth Specialties asking me, since I had attended numerous NYWC’s,  if I would like to have breakfast with either Tic Long or Mark Oestreicher(the leaders of YS). I, of course, said sure, and this morning I traveled 14 floors up to the Presidential  Suite for breakfast with Tic along with 11-12 other youth leaders. We had a great breakfast and discussion.  After breakfast I received a call from Carla & Rob, saying they were about 30 minutes out, so I waited for them to arrive. We scooted over for GenSes3, where Starfield led worship, and Francis Chan gave the message. I however, missed most of Francis’ message,

because I had to go and meet the “surprise” I alluded to in yesterday’s post.  It’s really creepy when people watch over your shoulder while your trying to write this thing!!(Note – Erin, Amy, Bob and Jenna are looking over my shoulder as I type this…plus they’re proofreading) A couple of weeks ago, Jenna discovered Pittsburgh wasn’t too far from Frostburg and said we should come see her. I said, “Why don’t you come hang out with us?” So….she did!  Youth Specialties gave her a guest pass, so she could hang out and go to some of the stuff here. Next up? Lunch! Janet and Carla went to the Women in Youth Ministry Luncheon, while the rest of us went to the Sonoma Grill. After lunch we had

another round of seminars, followed by a dinner the The Spaghetti Factory with all the rest of the Peninsula-Delaware Conference Youth Workers. Back for GenSes4, with Mercy Me as our concert artist, and Phyllis Trickle as our speaker. Phyllis’ talk was needless to say, interesting, and I heard varied responses from our group about what she had to say. We ended the evening with a time of worship with Mike Maher. Afterwards we all kinda split up, some going back to the rooms, while others went shopping in the exhibit hall or YS Store. At some point

everybody, but Janet, ended up in our room with 2, who shall remain nameless, proceeding to try and kill themselves with Bob & my pillows.
