Pittsburgh – Day 3, Sunday, November 2

I apologize for the wrong link being in yesterday’s e-mail, obviously Joel can’t type.

Ok, now to the report.

Steel City Diner was closed, so we meandered down the street, and found a McDonald’s. Along the way, we passed a couple of old churches, and on the way back from breakfast we stopped by to take a look. The first was the Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh….and I have to say…. it is the most beautiful church I have ever seen. Absolutely breathtaking! We also stopped by Smithfield United, and while not as breathtaking….equally as impressive.

We got back in time for GenSes5, where we saw, Living Illusions, Shane & Shane and the The Skit Guys. Mark Maher lead us in worship, and Mark Yaconelli was our speaker…I truly cannot accurately describe the ending of Mark’s message….just combine, a gigantic mirror disco ball, tear-away khaki pants, and some vintage 1970′s dance music…

We had lunch at a Chinese Buffet, and then spent the afternoon in a variety of sessions. For dinner we walked up to Primanti Brothers. Primanti Brothers is a Pittsburgh institution, similar to our English’s chicken, Thrasher’s French Fries, Fisher’s Popcorn, etc.  They’re signature dish is a cheese-steak sub with french fries and cole slaw…..the only difference…..it’s all piled together….yes, I mean the french fries and cole slaw are actually on the sandwich. Until you have one, you really can’t appreciate it.

After dinner we walked back to the Conv Center for GenSes6. We had more escapes from Living Illusions, another comedic skit from The Skit Guys, singing by Kendall Payne, and last but not least, worship with David Crowder.  I would be remiss if I didn’t at least mention our speaker. This is my 9th Youth Specialties Conference, and I do have to say, Tony’s Jone’s message last night was certainly the most bizarre. It’s not that i didn’t get anything out of it, it was just incredibly….bizarre.

Another day and night in the bag….we’ll be heading home on Monday, and I’ll have one final report, from Monday’s events and happenings tomorrow.
