Camp Joy – Day Zero – Sunday 7/19/09

campjoyzero

Commissioning Gonna backtrack a bit and talk about our Commissioning at SNL, on Saturday. Michelle presented the purple shirt to Ashley. To make a long story short, we have a purple shirt that has been passed down since year one to the person who most exemplifies the spirit of Camp Joy. After the short presentation, Pastor Bill prayed over us and we were ready to go.

Group Pic We all met at church at 6:30 am this morning, picked our poker chips(for ride assignments), took our group picture and were on the road before 7am. We stopped at the Wendy’s(which was closed)/Convenience Store to buy snacks/breakfast/ice, etc. We swapped rides via poker chips once again, and were off. Another stop for the potty in Hagerstown, and then we split for the job-sites. We wanted to get a little bit of a head start today, so one crew went to the ramp job, while the rest went to the paint job. After a few hours we broke for camp to get the camp site set-up. No rain this year, so we got them up the first time.

"Vegging" We vegged a bit and then headed up to dinner, hot dogs, sloppy joes, awesome mac-n-cheese, chips, etc. Better than past years!!! Then Vespers…

Hmm…due to some illness issues, our vespers were an experience in improvisation, so suffice to say, it was a gallant effort, and I’ll leave it at that.

Up early tomorrow, breakfast then jump the work-sites!!!!

P.S. Be sure to check out the Twitter Updates on the right side of our website…also I’m posting pics during the day right to our Flickr site…see the ribbon of pics on the right>>>>>>>>
