Camp Joy – Day Six – Saturday, 7/25/09

campjoysix

Sorry for the late update, but I seem to have spent more time not-home, than home, since I got home, if that makes any sense, but I digress.

We woke up and got up to breakfast a little after 7.  Saturday Camp Joy breakfasts are all the leftover stuff they hadn’t cooked during the week, so we basically had a little bit of everything. We headed back down to strike camp and get packed up before morning Vespers. Just another side note – during the evening and before going up to breakfast we had noticed that the septic system in the lower camp seemed to be having some problems, and by the time we left for breakfast, we had a full-blown septic meltdown. Evidently with the heavy usage for 2 weeks, the tank had reached it’s ability to store anything else, and consequently, ceased to take any more. Sure glad this happened on Saturday Morning and not earlier in the week.

We got the tents knocked down and the trailer packed, then walked over to Vespers. This year we held Saturday Vespers at the fire ring in the down-stairs camp, instead of up at God’s Open Window. Nobody said why, I can only assume it was due to the heat and sun. GOW sits at the top of the hill and the sun is just brutal on Saturday mornings.

Vespers was great, and afterwards, we swept our site for trash and we were on the road.  Traffic was extremely heavy the whole way home, so we didn’t arrive back at church until shortly after 5pm…but we made it.

Backing up a bit again, the recipient of the MS T-Shirt was Taylor H. As I said, in my previous article, Sarah had a really hard decision because all of the MS youth worked extremely hard. GOOD JOB MS’ers!!!

We had an awesome trip, the youth were great, the adults were their normal AWESOME selves, the weather cooperated, and the jobs got done with time to spare. Thank you for all the support and the prayers, they are much appreciated.

If you would like to see and hear more about our trip, come to our:
