2010 Camp Joy Requirements
In August 2009, the Camp Joy Leadership Team met and established the following requirements for application to attend the annual Camp Joy Mission Trip in 2010.
Attendance
- An attendance percentage at the weekly Christ-Youth meetings of 75% or greater will qualify the applicant for consideration for inclusion of the Camp Joy Mission Team.
- An attendance percentage at the weekly Christ-Youth meetings of between 66% and 74% will qualify the applicant for consideration for inclusion of the Camp Joy Mission Team on a provisional basis. (Provisional basis is where the Leadership Team feels there are extenuating circumstances for an attendance percentage less than 75%, that all other qualifications are met, and there is available space on the Mission Team)
- An attendance percentage at the weekly Christ-Youth meetings of 65% or lower, disqualify the applicant for consideration for inclusion of the Camp Joy Mission Team.
- Attendance will be calculated based on the weekly sign-in sheets, verification by the adult youth workers, and if questionable, verified by the photographs taken at regular youth meetings
- A youth must attend at least 50% of the meeting to qualify as having attended.
- The attendance percentage used for consideration will be calculated at the time the Camp Joy Leadership Team meets to select the team, typically in late April or early May.
- Current attendance percentages will be sent to the youth and parent 2 times a year, around early December, and around early March.
Maturity, Ability to Work with Others, and
Suitability for a Mission Trip
- All applicants will be evaluated on their Maturity Level, their Ability to Work with Others, and their Suitability for a Mission Trip.
- This determination will be based on the observation of the youth during the school year at all Christ-Youth Meetings, Events, and/or CUMC Events.
Seniority
- If all other considerations are equal, the selection of Camp Joy Team members will be based on Seniority, with older grade levels having preference.
Full Week-Long Participation at Camp Joy
- If all other considerations are equal, preference will be given to Youth that can attend the entire week of Camp Joy.
6th Grade
- Youth having completed 6th grade are eligible to apply for Camp Joy. Their participation will be based on the same criteria as all other youth.
Extenuating Circumstances
- In the event of what the Camp Joy Leadership Team feels are extraordinary & extenuating circumstances, the Leadership Team reserves the right to appeal to the Pastor and the SPRC to waive any or all of the requirements.
Update on Alberta
Just bringing everyone up to speed. Alberta’s surgery seems to have been very successful, at least by early sign. The surgeon, Dr. Rigamonti seemed very confident he got the whole tumor. She was moved to a regular room yesterday(Thursday), less than 24 hours after she was out of surgery. Physical therapy will be in today to begin the evaluation process and set up a plan of action. I want to thank everyone for their prayers, thoughts, and concerns during this time. We still have a ways to go, with rehab and getting Alberta back to her normal self, but with God’s grace we are confident in the outcome. Again, Thank You.
